Day 1 in the "Illustrated Faith" ~ "You're Beautiful" devotional.
He said, “Who told you that you were naked?" Genesis 3:11
We all know the power of shame. I'm sure most of us don't even remember the very first time that we experienced it. I know that I don't. Just that it was always there. Lurking around the corner. Chances are we were super little & our parents used "shame" as a disciplinary action. An adult made us feel badly for something we did. Maybe even a teacher shamed you in front of your class. Yep! That one for sure was me. It could have been a kid in the neighborhood. However it was it just became ingrained in us to feel that emotion. It became a way of life.
But can you imagine being the first person to ever experience shame on the face of the earth? I bet the first time was way more powerful than the shame any of us ever knew. Eve always gets a bad rap. But I bet you any of us would have eaten that fruit, because we are curious by nature.
