Day 1 "Own It" from the Created to Create, Illustrated Faith devotional.
"and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze..."
Exodus 35:31-32
Yesterday I spent the entire day working on a project for my art business, so as I began to read the devotional at midnight, I thought "I don't have a problem owning it", but it made me think. As a kid, especially in my younger teens I dealt with depression & art was my escape. I would spend hours sitting at my little desk drawing faces from my mom's year books, Archie comics & then I began to design fashion. It was my favorite. I even designed floor plans. But somewhere along the way I stopped picking up my colored pencils. It wasn't until 2008, when I decided to paint a Christmas ornament that things changed. Paint & a paintbrush was something missing in my life, that I never knew! I was just doing it for fun, but someone wanted to buy one. That was never my plan, but the Lord had others. And before I knew it I had orders coming from all over the country. But I still didn't consider myself an "artist." I stopped painting ornaments & transitioned into canvas pieces. I had a blog & FB fan page, but it wasn't until I put the words "artist" as my job description that I began to "OWN IT." I stopped shying away from what God placed inside of me. It's something that I am greatly passionate about. Each piece that I create is a part of my heart. Everything, no matter what it is, is prayed over. I pray as I paint. 💗 When Bible journaling came along...My heart skipped a beat! So YES! I'm raising my paintbrush & declaring that "I AM AN ARTIST."
I had to do a "tip in" page since this one was already covered.
