Auschwitz Lullaby ~ Book Review

Wow. This book. It has been a while since I had read a book that I couldn't put down. Auschwitz Lullaby by Mario Escobar has become one of those.
I knew going in that it was based on a true story, but to fully grasp that this was real, is heartbreaking on many, many levels. Most of the stories about the Holocaust focuses mainly on the Jews that lost their lives. Most people do not know that there were other people that perished & were brutalized as well.
In Auschwitz Lullaby, it's 1943 when we meet Helene Hannemann. She is an Aryan German, who is married is to a Romani (Gypsy) & has 5 children. They are sent to Auschwitz, one of the most horrific concentration camps.
During her time there Helene does what she must to survive with her children. Including running a school for Dr. Mengele, an extremely sinister man.

This is a story of a brave woman, who courageously lived the best way that she knew how in the face of one of the most terrifying times in history.

I also suggest googling the names mentioned in this book, to help you get an even deeper understanding of these people.

I received this book from Book Look Bloggers for my honest review.
