The Feathered Bone ~A Book Review

The Feathered Bone by Julie Cantrell is not at all the type of book that I choose to read. But for some reason, I felt it was beckoning me to open it's pages. And I was so glad that I did. Julie's deep attention to detail completely made this book come alive right before my eyes. I live in the South & have spent time in Louisiana. It is such a unique place, full of different cultures. It is like it is not own universe. Set against that backdrop the story of Amanda & the people in her life is one that is not easy to read. So if you are hoping for a light book, this is not for you. It tackles subjects like abuse, divorce, suicide & sex trafficking. All of the things are running rampant in our world, but yet subjects that most avoid. Sweep under the rug. Julie does not sweep any of this under the rug. She delves into them all head first. The details of each storyline are so real, you feel like you are a part of these people's lives. It was one of those books that is hard to put down. And when you do, you are thinking about them all.  Julie Cantrell is a wonderful author. This is the first time that I have read one of her book & it certainly will not be the last!
