The Finger Debacle

I guess that I should explain what happened to my finger, since I have referenced it several times.
I like to make homemade sweet potato treats for the Bitty Buddies & we bought a mandolin over the weekend to make slicing the potatoes easier. I have never used a mandolin before, but I knew they were notoriously dangerous. I figured I could handle it just fine. So Monday I had only sliced a few pieces when my finger slipped & went right through the blade. I immediately went to the sink & put my finger under the faucet, praying that it wasn't as bad as I thought. I pick up the mandolin & there lay the tip of my right index finger. I got lightheaded then. And blood was pouring. I wrapped my finger in a paper towel, as D was driving up at the same time. I walked calmly out on the porch & said to D as he got out of the car "I just sliced the tip of my finger off."  We came in & tried to get it to stop bleeding & it wouldn't. Mom came over to see what she could do too. I just kept laughing because I couldn't believe I had just done it! I literally laughed all day. And I was fascinated by the tip of my finger laying on the counter with part of my nail that was painted with my new OPI Hello Kitty "Look at my Bow" pink. After over 2 hours of it pouring blood, we finally got it to clot with some lavender essential oils. I didn't go to the ER because I felt the tip wasnt enough to save & I could Doctor it myself. Plus I'm a stubborn Southern woman.
It's healing, but the bandaging has made my eczema flare up so my finger is now swollen from that, not the actual wound.

I'm having a hard time not being able to create. I had plans for several canvas pieces this week. But I can't write, draw or paint.
