Through The Deep Waters ~ Book Review

I was very excited to read this book. The premise of a girl raised in a brothel is a subject matter that most Christian authors wouldn't dare to attempt. So I couldn't wait to delve into this story, hoping for more than surface fluff. But I was disappointed. Even with this topic, the story felt juvenile. There was no real depth.
I did like that Amos isn't a "perfectly handsome" guy in the book. He wasn't the typical chiseled face, tall, dark & handsome type. He had an injury that has caused him to be different. And I had great hopes for his storyline. But I'll just be honest... Amos got on my nerves. I tried so hard to like him, but there was no real character development. And he was always, well.... Just plain silly. I didn't enjoy his parts of the book.
I really loved the scene between Ruthie and Dinah in the closet. I cried. It to me was the purest part of the story.
I was hoping that Dinah would not end up with Amos. I wanted her to find happiness with someone else. I wasn't cheering on this relationship on at all.
All in all it was a sweet story of overcoming bitterness & finding redemption & love.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
