Jesus Calling Devotional

I had seen a friend post a devotion from this on facebook months ago & it sparked at interest, but then I completely forgot about. I am not someone who follows the latest "Christian Fad", you know what I am talking about....The Prayer of Jabez, The Shack, Crazy Love, ect.....So, when I saw the huge stack of these devotions at Costco, I sorta turned my nose up. (Not that there is anything wrong with those other books.) But then found myself standing there reading that days devotion & fell in love with it. I had to have it. I can't do long, drawn out devotions. My brain tends to go blank, I lose interest & won't complete the devotion. Seriously, you should see the stack of them I have that only a few pages are completed. I need something that is short, sweet & to the point. My favorite devotion of all time is "My Utmost For His Highest." I've been reading that one off & on for 15-16 years. These devotions are just what I need. Simple. Pure. Beautiful. Soothing.

This was the devotion from "Jesus Calling" for May 22...

When things don't go as you would like, accept the situation immediately. If you indulge in feelings or regret, they can easily spill over the line into resentment. Remember that I am sovereign over your circumstances & humble yourself under My mighty hand. Rejoice in what I am doing in your life, even though it is beyond your understanding.
I am the Way, the Truth & the Life, In Me you have everything you need, both for this life & for the life yet to come. Don't let the impact of the world shatter your thinking or draw you away from focusing on Me. The ultimate challenge is to keep fixing your eyes on Me, no matter what is going on around you. When I am central in your thinking, you are able to view circumstances from My perspective.

The scriptures at the end are 1Peter 5:6 & John 14:6

I read them in NIV & The Message since I have a Parallel Study Bible. Here are the scriptures in both versions....

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
1Peter 5:6 NIV

So be content with who you are, and don't put on airs. God's strong hand is on you; he'll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.
1Peter 5:6 The Message (love this one)

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6 NIV

Jesus said, "I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him. You've even seen him!"
John 14:6

If you don't have this devotional, I encourage you to get it. There is an app for it RIGHT HERE
