Why I Love Lucy

I have always had a fondness for "old things". Even as a kid I would have much rather watched a classic movie than, a newer film. I mean, what 6 year old says "Gone With The Wind" is their favorite movie? I guess I have just been an old soul my whole life. The past is my favorite place. :) As a kid I spent a lot of time with my Granny. I even lived with her from a while & if you have not noticed yet, I had a deep bond with her. The TV always seemed to on at her house, whether it was a game show or some kind of ball game...Auburn or the Braves. I think my love for TV developed then also. But there was one show that stood out. It came on everyday around lunch & it was about this very funny lady. The very first episode I ever watched was "Pioneer Women". You may know it as the episode where Lucy bakes the giant loaf of bread. I was immediately hooked. I remember telling Granny after that "I wanna watch that lady with the bread."

I loved Lucy instantly & wanted to know everything about her....Not just care about her show. When I was a teen & was being homeschooled, everyday at noon, I had my lunch & hour of Lucy. Then when I was 15 & my Granny passed away suddenly I wanted to cling to anything that was a reminder of her. Lucy became a huge part of that. So my love for Lucy grew & has only gotten deeper throughout the years.

Lucille Ball has brought me more joy in my lifetime that I could possibly describe. Not just the "I Love Lucy" show, but her other shows & movies. I've read countless books about her & I could never forget my ever increasing collection of anything Lucille Ball. She is truly a remarkable woman. One of a kind legend. She is an inspiration & a trail blazer. She lives on not just in my heart, but in the hearts of millions of others. I can't imagine life without her. I can watch an episode of "I Love Lucy" any time of the day or night & all is well in my world.

Happy 100th Birthday Lucy!!!!
